Acquired data
The iPhone ogical plug-in for iPhone forensics acquires the following data using internal iPhone protocols:
- Address Book
- SMS History
- Call logs
- Calendar
- Notes
- Filesystem
The amount of data acquired depends on the model and state of the phone. iPhones with Firmware 1.0, 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 should acquire most logical data. iPhones with Firmware 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 allow you to acquire most logical data if they were unlocked by some program (often called Jailbreaking), otherwise, only the /var/root/Media folder will be acquired. During testing, we found that some unlocking programs did not unlock access to contacts, call logs, and other portions of the phone.
