FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS FOR FORENSIC REPLICATOR

For registration questions, please visit the Registration FAQ page.

Q: Does compression effect the integrity of my image file?
A. The image file is not effected by the use of compression. The compression used in Forensic Replicator is the same compression mechanism that is used in PkZip, WinZip and other similar programs. The only issue is that currently a compressed image cannot be read by the popular forensic analysis programs. However, you can convert the image files from compressed to raw at anytime through the conversion wizard located in the program.

Q: What is the level of encryption that is used on the image files?
A. Forensic Replicator uses strong encryption at 128-bit with the Rijndael algorithm.

Q: What are the mechanisms that are used to prevent the writing of data to my evidence drive?
A. Forensic Replicator mounts all the drives so they are read only. However, Paraben still recommends the use of a physical write protection device such as Paraben's Lockdown.
